A Lifetime of Care for Your Animal Friends

The first year of your puppy's life is one of the most important.  We want to ensure your new friend receives the proper exercise, socialization, nutrition, training, parasite protection, and vaccinations throughout their lifetime.  The following is a guideline to follow, but depending on individual health status, your pet's needs may vary.

At 6 weeks of age your puppy needs:
1.  Complete physical examination
2.  Proper nutrition
3.  Intestinal parasite screen and possible deworming
4. Proper socialization and beginning obedience training
5.  Vaccination for parvovirus, distemper, infectious canine hepatitis, adenovirus type 2, parainfluenza, and coronavirus                                                  

At 9-10 weeks of age your puppy needs:                       No Description
1.  Complete physical examination
2.  Proper nutrition
3.  Socialization and obedience training
4.  Vaccination for parvovirus, distemper, hepatitis, adenovirus, parainfluenza, and coronavirus
5.  First bordatella vaccination
6.  First dose of heartworm prevention +/- external parasite protection

At 13-14 weeks of age your puppy needs:
1.  Complete physical examination
2.  One year bordatella booster
3.  3 year parvovirus, adenovirus, and distemper vaccination
4.  First Rabies vaccination (good for 1 year)
5.  Second dose of heartworm prevention +/- external parasite protection (continue monthly forever)
6.  Proper nutrition

At 15-16 weeks or age your puppy needs:
1.  preanesthetic bloodwork
2.  Spay or neuter

At 12-15 months your dog needs:
1.  Complete physical examination
2.  Booster vaccination for bordatella
3.  3 year rabies vaccination
4.  parvovirus, distemper, and adenovirus vaccination if did not receive 3 year vaccine with last puppy shots
5.  Intestinal parasite screen and heartworm test
6.  Monthly heartworm prevention +/- external parasite protection
7.  Proper nutrition

From 2-7 years of age your dog needs:
1.  Yearly physical examinations
2.  Yearly intestinal parasite screens and heartworm testing
3.  Yearly booster for bordatella
4.  Boosters vaccines every 3 years for rabies, distemper, parvovirus, and adenovirus
5.  Proper nutrition
6.  Monthly heartworm prevention +/- external parasite protection
7.  Regular dental cleanings as well as brushing and sealant application at home

From age 7 and older your dog needs:
1.  Semi-annual examinations
2.  Yearly intestinal parasite screens and heartworm testing
3.  Yearly booster vaccine for bordatella
4.  Boosters every 3 years for dap and Rabies as health permits
5.  Regular dental cleanings and home care
6.  Proper nutrition
7.  Yearly testing including blood chemistries, cbc, and urinalysis to detect life threatening diseases early, when they are most treatable
8.  heartworm prevention monthly +/- external parasite protection
